Hand-made, Stunning, No Metal, Hypo-allergenic, Color changing Iridescent Glass, like Dragonfly Wings
Wearable work of Art " Freedom " Dichroic Glass Pendant
Dichroic ~ from the Greek word: “two colors”.
Reflects one color, transmits another. Flash, depth, intense color.
"People will ask you about your jewelry."
All pictures are of the same Pendant that you will receive!
Dichroic Glass changes color constantly as the lighting changes or the back ground color changes. Just Fascinating!!
These pendants feel soft and cool on your skin, you will not even feel its on. They are not sharp or poky. The melting in the kiln causes the glass to soften and have no sharp edge.
Pendant Size: 3" lg. x 2 3/8" w. x 1/2" Nice wide tunnel bail built in for ribbon or your chain
Dichroic glass is very hard to photograph, to really capture the chameleon like change in color, the special effects of Dichroic. But I think I have finally figured out how to get my pictures after all these years!
You can use a gold or silver necklace, the bail is Built in glass and has a big enough opening to accommodate a small sized chain or buy different color ribbons & cord for fun!.
Always remember, to be sure the bow is tight. If you get a knot, it usually comes free or just cut off and use another ribbon or cord.
Dichroic Glass Pendants very durable, but you must not DROP it! If by chance it is broken someday, use the pieces to make earrings, by just using craft glue to place earring findings to the glass! I have done it and so can you!
NEW!! I have added a safety bead to ensure that your Pendant does not come off your ribbon!!
Leave the Guard Bead on the ribbon, place over head, make your double tight bow! The Guard Bead is in front of the bow.
Hand made in my Hawaii studio (my carport!!) My fused glass Jewelry is a variety of special art glass and Dichroic glass carefully assembled and fired to as high as 1500 degrees.
I was not able to work with my Glass for a couple years due to my back injury but now I want to get back into making a few pieces a day in my neat "Microwave" kiln!
Manufacturers have made a kiln that goes into your Microwave oven and will go up to more than enough heat to melt glass! It is really fun & convenient for experimenting with designs and for making a few Pendants a day using very little electricity!
**Comes Bubble wrapped, in a clear top, gift box, free satin ribbons attached and a card with Dichroic information.
Dichroic Glass: was first developed for scientific applications such as lasers and space mirrors. Vaporized metal oxides are deposited on very thin glass in a specialized vacuum chamber. The type of metal oxides used and the number of layers determines the final color. There are no pigments used in Dichroic glass. The raw material is perfectly clear. The colors in the glass are produced by the visible light being bent in a prism effect, exactly like what occurs in rainbows and dragonfly wings. Unlike dyes or pigments which absorb 50 percent of the light, about 95 percent of the light in Dichroic glass is reflected back to your eyes. This phenomena accounts for the unusual brilliance of the glass.
